Commonities
Terms of Service
Last updated: 31 August 2026
Commonities is a school community app for verified students. By using Commonities, you agree to use it lawfully, respectfully, and only for campus coordination, questions, events, requests, offers, and peer support.
Eligibility And Account Access
You must be at least 16, use an account that belongs to you and, for campus spaces, use a verified school email or approved school access method. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for activity from your account.
Campus Communities
Communities represent social or academic categories people can join. Requesting a missing community does not make you its owner. Commonities or school reviewers may approve, merge, rename, or reject community requests to keep the campus catalog useful.
Your Content
You keep ownership of your posts, comments, messages, event details, and other content. You allow Commonities to store, display, send, and process that content so the current service can provide school spaces, conversations, notifications, reports, and user blocks.
Conduct Rules
- Do not harass, threaten, abuse, or target people.
- Do not impersonate others or misrepresent your school connection.
- Do not spam, scam, phish, or post misleading content.
- Do not share private information without permission.
- Do not post illegal, unsafe, hateful, sexually exploitative, or violent content.
- Do not use Commonities to coordinate dangerous activity or evade school rules, law, or platform safeguards.
Events And Real-World Coordination
Events, meetups, requests, and offers are created by users. Use judgment before meeting people or relying on information from another user. Commonities is not an emergency service; contact local emergency services or your school safety office for urgent situations.
Reports And Blocking
Where visible in the current service, users can submit reports and block accounts. Blocking limits supported interactions and visibility between the two accounts. A report creates a request for authorized review; it does not confirm immediate action or a final moderation decision.
Commonities may limit or remove content or accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these rules, protect users or comply with law. Signed-in users can start a private Commonities platform-support conversation from Trust & help.
Tokens And Rewards
Tokens, badges, and rewards are app features for contribution and feedback. They have no cash value, are not transferable, and may change or be removed as the product evolves.
Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Account & Privacy or use the web deletion page. Deletion cannot be undone. Limited records may be retained only where required for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations or legal claims, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
University Research
Research collection is controlled by a remote release switch, and the app shows its current status. It stays off during release preparation and cannot collect from an old or unapproved app build. It may be switched on only after the required university, ethics, privacy and controller approvals and final-device checks are recorded.
If research collection is activated, eligible Radboud users who accepted the current version of these Terms and have not opted out may be included by default. Creating an account or accepting updated Terms records the exact Terms version accepted; Commonities does not record whether you opened or read this page.
If approved and research collection is activated, the research will study how community context is associated with student interaction. It may use coded, pseudonymous events about eligible feed opportunities, post views and actions, community and Blend context, notifications, and content-free messaging outcomes.
Commonities may keep restricted operational linkage identifiers in a private control layer only to verify eligibility and enforce opt-out, withdrawal, deletion, retention, and audit controls. Researchers do not receive that linkage layer. The coded researcher export does not include post, comment, message, support or report text, email addresses, real names or nicknames, push tokens, or raw account identifiers.
Only authorised researchers receive the coded research export. Research-linked event and opportunity records are excluded immediately after opt-out and deleted within 30 days under the approved retention process. Results are reported only in coded, aggregate or anonymised form.
You can opt out at any time in Profile → Account & Privacy → Terms and Services → Turn off research data use. Turning it off stops new research collection immediately, clears pending unsent research events and does not affect your account, communities or campus access.
Signing out creates no new research opportunities or events. Content-free events already created before sign-out may remain encrypted on that device and can resume only for the same account and campus. Account deletion removes the account-linked research records handled by the deletion process.

Availability And Changes
Commonities may change, pause, or discontinue features as the service develops. We may update these terms when the app changes. If a material update requires a new acceptance, the app will ask you to review it.
